Let It Snow Baby... ...Let It Reindeer

For those of you not in Salt Lake, it's been snowing and snowing and snowing (it still is)...every time it does, I take Lily outside to see and she just smiles.  The other night I got her in her snowsuit and she had a ball!

Busy Busy Busy

Lily had some pictures taken the other night with some of her cousins.  We curled her hair!
Getting Beautified!
The finished product.  Sorry it's not straight on, but you get a better shot of the curl like this.
We also got to meet Santa at my brother-in-law's mom's house.  She DID NOT like that one bit (pictures to come) but she and her cousin Sloane sure look cute with their reindeer antlers!

And What to my Wandering Eyes Should Appear...

I posted a while ago how awful of a napper Lily was.  I take back every word.  She worked out the kinks in her sleeping regimen, and we're both much happier these days.  Yesterday we went to a baby shower where Lily got to see her future husband. (He currently resides in Houston, she hasn't seen him since August!)  So, she missed her morning nap, but it was well worth visiting with friends.  We left the shower at 1:00 and she was out before I could put the car in drive.  At 3:00 I wondered if she was still breathing so I went to check, and this is what I saw.  Isn't that little bum just to die for?!  AND, she napped until about 3:30!  OH BLESSED DAY!

Turkey Day and Game Day

We went down to St. George for Thanksgiving this year.  All of Buz's extended Slaugh family went (we missed a few who couldn't make it) and we ended up having 30+ together for the big meal.  We had two turkeys that each weighed over twenty pounds, lots of potatoes, gravy, casseroles galore, and jello.  YUM!
What is this you ask?  That's right, Lily is starting to walk behind things.  She's only 9 months old!  I took her to the doctor, she weighs 13 lbs 13 oz, which is a whopping 0%!  How can something so small be walking already?  I don't know what to do with myself!
Our Thanksgiving Family
Buz got to go to the rivalry game this year, his brother got tickets and decided to take him.  Thanks Steve, Buz had a blast!  This is what Lily looked like when I came into her room after Buz got her ready for the day.
I took charge and got her ready in what she was really going to wear.  I bought this shirt online and shipped it to my parents house so Buz wouldn't know.  Dumb old me, I forgot and it was sitting on their table when he went over.  Surprise ruined.
I know they lost, but don't you think Lily looks better in this outfit?  I definitely do!

Remember When...

1. Add a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together.  It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember.
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you.  It's actually pretty funny to see the responses.

time for some serious updating

sorry, it's been a while.  not much is going on around here, just being mommy and lily, with daddy occasionally making an appearance!  i haven't written about lily's happenings for quite some time.  here you go:
2 teeth, both on the bottom, they came in mid october.
she's crawling around everywhere, and not just an army crawl.  she started really crawling on halloween night.
she's cruising up a storm.  she can climb up to stand at the ottoman, then makes laps around and around...i think she's going to be walking by christmas.  oh dear, that's a scary thought!
we're down to one nap a day.  i'm finally getting used to it.  thankfully she's been taking about a 2 hour nap when she does, so that's ok.  i still would rather two hour and a half naps, but what can you do!
we're finally starting to fit into 6-9 month clothes!  well, they're still big around the waist, but she's so long!  that's why we spend most days in onesies.  it's just easier!
her newest trick is doing the actions to the "popcorn" song!  it's adorable!  she really only does the popcorn motion, but every once in a while will wag her little finger for "it wasn't really so..."!
she waves hello and goodbye
she loves, and i mean loves to talk on the phone (uh oh!)
she's starting to call buz "dada" and i'm jealous!
again, sorry it's taken so long, but like i said...one nap a day doesn't give me a lot of time.  maybe that's why my house is a disaster!  yes, i think that's it!
these days all she'll eat for breakfast is blueberry waffles
i had the ottoman open to put the blankets away and she found daddy's drumsticks!

Oh The Sweet Bliss of Employment

That's right, Buz got a job!  Some of you knew the offer was on the table, but it's official!  On Friday afternoon we gave the office a call and accepted their offer.  He'll be working at a public accounting firm in downtown Salt Lake called CBIZ.  It starts September 1, 2009, and Buz graduates at the end of April, so we have a few free months.  We're not sure what we're going to do, but since I fly free we might take advantage.  Any suggestions as to where we should go?
I just want to say how proud I am of Buz for his hard work and time he spends at school.  It's been like more than a full time job so far this semester, but I know it is already paying off.  He is so studious, more than I can say I ever was!  Thanks for all you do for our family Buz!
Also, thanks for all of your prayers and support through this busy and stressful recruitment season.  In the end we feel this is the right place for us to be and we couldn't be happier.
p.s. sorry to those of you hoping we'd move out of state.  it just wasn't in the cards for us.  but you can still visit us here!

Lily was a ladybug this Halloween.  A great find at the Target after holiday sale last year (still pregnant), I think I paid a whole $3!!!  This is my 10 minute home made spider web costume.  You like?
Halloween morning we went to my mom's elementary school so that Lily could parade with all the kids.  I think Grandma had just as much fun as Lily!
We bought Guitar Hero World Tour for our Wii, so that's what we've been doing in our spare time.  Lily thinks it really fun!
I just had to post a picture of this adorable pea coat I found for Lily.  I love it!

georgie porgie

I know, I know, it's been a while. Lame excuse? Camera is out of batteries. I told you, lame excuse. Last weekend we ventured on down to warm and relaxing St. George with Buz's family, (we missed you Hailey!). Can't say we did much, but Buz rode in a 100 mile bike tour. He hasn't quite reached crazy since he didn't go all 100 miles, but he's definately riding his way there! He rode with his dad and our sister-in-law's dad and little brother. Lee, Craig, Teal, Buz (notice the first three are wearing their matching jerseys. Way to be a rebel honey!) We did, however, make it to the playground. Can you resist that sweet face? I mean really. Thanks to Steve for bringing his amazing Nikon Digital SLR so that we could catch some great pics!

here we are.

Lily has become quite the little cuddle bug these days!
Tasting the petunias...they don't taste too good.
Real piggies!
**Please note, when I set her down, the basket had all the toys in it and was upright in the corner.  The mini boppy was propped against the wall and the basket!  How does she do it?!?!

Miss Piggy

Can you believe it?  She looks like such a big girl to me with one little piggy tail!  Sadly enough, I haven't been able to manage to get one in since this day, Lily is quite the wiggle worm!  I'll keep working on it though, it can only get longer!

We Want YOU!!!!

The past week and a half, and for the next few weeks, we've been going through recruitment.  What is that exactly?  It is essentially being the worst parents in the world.  Buz is applying for jobs right now, and there is an endless slew of open houses, game nights, dinners... most of which are not for children, just applicants and their spouses.  Thanks to our moms for watching Lily so much and giving her the attention she needs when we can't!
Hopefully it will all pay off soon.  We'll be done with all the events by the end of September, an should know where Buz will be working by November!  It will be a relief to know he has a job to look forward to after graduation.
Speaking of recruitment, Lily has officially joined the Army!!! Not really, but she's started army crawling!  She's even daring to get up on her knees for a few seconds.  Don't have any pics yet, and I don't have a cord to connect our video camera to the computer.  I'll work on that!

Shhhh

It's a miracle!!!  It's 11:30 am and Lily is actually taking a nap.  I risked just about everything to take this picture, but I had to document.  For those of you who don't know, this little one has decided sleeping is a thing for lazy people.  Day or night, she's up for playing.  This may be part of the reason she's not growing!!!  Not really, but today I decided to just see what would happen.  So I tried again.  She fussed for maybe five minutes, then nothing.  I went to check on her since she is known to quiet down and just play, but I beheld this blessed sight!!

A Half

That's right!!! My baby is now "a half!"  I can't believe how fast the last 6 months have come and gone.  Lily is such a happy and smiley baby and we are so blessed to be her parents.  The latest stats are:
Weight:  12 lbs 9 oz  -  2nd percentile
Length:  25.98 inches - 57th percentile (and as a side note, where do they get the .98?  It's not like the scale is so exact they can see .98 inches!!)
Head:  I don't remember the exact measurement, but it was in the 11th percentile
So, as we have always known, we have a little munchkin!
These days, she does a lot of sitting up, and we do a lot of trying to get her to eat.  If it's veggies it's no biggie, but the fruit is where she struggles.  I thought they told you to start with veggies because the fruit is easy.  HA!
This pic is for daddy.  He feels he needs to push the whole U of U issue on Lily and then she'll bleed Crimson.  I, on the other hand, know that's not how it works.  I'm relying in reverse psychology and the undeniable fact that BYU is just plain better than the U!!
At this point in our lives, Buz has officially started his Master's program, which means he's not working anymore.  And if you're wondering, I'm not working either!!! So, if anyone is interested in playing board games (not BORED games), seriously give us a holler.  (We're open to other cheap forms of entertainment too!)

These are a few of my Favorite Things...

I'm talking things you can go and purchase.  Not like my family, sunrises, the mountains...  Join in, post 5 of your favorite things you probably don't want to live without.  We all might be enlightened with new ideas!
I can't live without my Burt's Bees chapstick.  I use it at night if my lips are chapped, and in the morning, they're smooth as silk!
When changing a poopy diaper, these refreshing wipes seem to mask the awful scent.  AND, Costco sells this exact box.  Gotta love bulk purchases!
I love the PureOlogy hair care line.  It's a little pricy, but the products are so concentrated, I can use a small bottle of shampoo and conditioner for over 6 months!  I just purchased this new product, called PowerDressing, and it is a great body builder, without leaving the feeling of wax in your hair.
More about poopy diapers.  Sorry.  You know when your kid has a disgustingly huge blowout and you find yourself spending hours scrubbing the yellow mess out of their clothes?  Scrub no more!  Leave the clothes in a small tub overnight (or until you get around to doing a load of laundry!) and the poop magically disappears!  This works for just about any stain, but that is my main use.  I also keep the small spray in my diaper bag, more for Buz than anyone!
Lastly, my new found friend.  It's called the Waa Laa Teaser Comb.  Again, a little pricy, but you wear your hair everyday, so you might as well invest in it!  Unless you have perfectly thick and voluminous hair, you probably tease your hair, whether you want to admit it or not.  This find is a great teaser.  And believe me, I've searched for something good.  This is it!

Catch Up

These past few weeks have been a whirlwind adventure.  As many of you know, I am the only one of my siblings that still lives in Utah.  Quite a lonely feeling when you think about it.  So, ALL 3 of my siblings arranged to come out here at the same time!  We had tons of fun, and it's not quite over.
Lily and cute Anna, the oldest of the bunch.
Lily and Carter.  They're two days apart, and had so much fun together.
My parents have a cabin up in Star Valley, Wyoming.  We spent part of our time up there, but unfortunately Anna got the flu the day we went up there, so they couldn't join us, and their trip was cut short.  So, we didn't get any pictures of Lily and her cousin Claire together.  But we still had lots of fun.  This was Lily's first "ride" on the 4-wheelers.
Without a small tub in Wyoming, we decided to bathe Lily in the sink, since it had probably been a good 3 or 4 days since her last bath!  (She never stinks, I swear!)  I'd say she loved it, wouldn't you?
Lily and Carter in their Bumbo's.  Lily is quite the conoisseur of veggies these days.
Thanks for the fun times.  I miss you all already!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game...

We took Lily to her first Bee's game.  She really loved it, had not one fit, and chilled on a blanket in the grass all night.
